As we past the entrance we were greeted by this fountain with elephants spraying water. A beautiful fountain. And since this was a warm, no hot, day just the sight of water was cooling. The park was not a large park. In talking to some of the zoo keepers they indicated that the only animals that were evacuated from the zoo during Hurricane Katrina were the seals. The park was not flooded.
As one can see this is a nicely kept park and zoo and it was nice to walk the grounds.

I guess this gorilla was tired of being stared at so he just turned his back on us. It was just too hot for much activity from most of the animals. Most, like us, were trying to find the coolest spots to just sit and relax.

Jean met a few of her friends at the zoo. A check of the family tree found no relations involved. Just friends.
We arrived just in time for the feeding of the tiger seals. They had fish for lunch.
The white tiger found the coolest spot and didn't want to get out in the heat.
Lunch time for the turtles. That really looks good. Better than what we had and a lot more healthy.
Lunch time for the baboons as well. They didn't seem to mind the heat as much as some other animals.
